Hopkins 10-inch Automatic Photoelectric Telescope (197 observations) Table VII : Differential UBV photometry of BS 1568 vs. BS 1561 from Mt. Hopkins 10-inch Automatic Photoelectric Telescope (197 observations). These are check star vs. comparison star measurements for 9 Aur photometry, giving intrinsic accuracy of APT data. For BS 1568 vs. BS 1561, = -1.556 +/- 0.001, = -1.425 +/- 0.001, and = -1.314 +/- 0.001. The standard deviations ("sigma-x") of the distributions are +/- 0.009, 0.008, and 0.010 for U, B, and V, respectively. The Bright Star Catalogue (4th ed., 1982) gives V = 4.47 for BS 1568, but only an R-band magnitude (5.66) for BS 1561. The observed delta V = -1.314 on these two stars indicates that V = 5.784 for BS 1561. The mean delta V of 9 Aur vs. BS 1561, from data in Table VI, is -0.774. This would give V = 5.010 for 9 Aur, which is to be compared to the value V = 5.00 in the Bright Star Catalogue. Thus, V = 5.78 is a sensible value for BS 1561.
