COMMISSION 27 OF THE I. A. U. INFORMATION BULLETIN ON VARIABLE STARS Number 2470 Konkoly Observatory Budapest 6 February 1984 HU ISSN 0374-0676 OUTBURST OF VY Aqr IN 1983 Photometric observations of the outburst of VY Aqr in Nov.-Dec., 1983 were obtained in Japan favored by good weathers. The outburst was first detected on Nov. by S. Fujino. The observers and the instruments are as follows. M. Huruhata (Gotemba) 18cm Schmidt. camera S. Fujino (Hamamatsu) 31 " " M. Wakuda " f 400mm Camera T. Saito " 21cm reflector [FIGURE 1] Figure 1 m_pv light curve of VY Aqr in 1983 All the observers used Tri X emulsion, and the yellow-green filter was attached to get visual magnitude. The magnitudes of comparison stars were determined photographically by the writer. The results are shown in the following table. U.T. m_pv Obs. U.T. m_pv Obs. Bortle on Nov. 27.04 is shown. Thus the outburst is considered to have occurred between Nov. 27.0 and 28.4, and the brightness suddenly decreased on Dec. 11 like SS Cygni type stars.
