COMMISSION 27 OF THE I. A. U. INFORMATION BULLETIN ON VARIABLE STARS Number 2065 Konkoly Observatory Budapest 1982 January 5 HU ISSN 0374-0676 BV PHOTOMETRY OF SUPERNOVA IN NGC 1316 BV photometry of the supernova (Maza, 1980) in Fornax A (NGC 1316), the first of two supernovae discovered in that galaxy, is reported. Observations were obtained with the CTIO 0.6 m telescope (S-20 phototube) and 0.9 m telescope (GaAs phototube). Extinction and transformation coefficients for each night were determined by observing equatorial standards (Landolt, 1973). Typically, at least 15 standards were observed, and several were observed at a variety of air masses. The standard deviation of a single measurement is typically 0.015m in B-V and 0.03m in V. ------------------------------------------- Date UT V B-V Telescope ------------------------------------------- 12/24/80 2h20m 12.80 0.57 0.6m 12/25/80 2 00 12.84 0.61 0.6 12/26/80 1 54 12.96 0.68 0.6 12/30/80 2 27 13.17 0.94 0.9 12/31/80 4 40 13.24 1.00 0.9 1/01/81 1 21 13.30 1.03 0.9 1/02/81 2 48 13.35 1.10 0.9 1/03/81 2 32 13.41 1.11 0.9 ------------------------------------------- EDWARD W.
