INFORMATION BULLETIN ON VARIABLE STARS Number 1345 Konkoly Observatory Budapest 1977 October 3 A NEW FLARE STAR IN CANCER On the photographic plate taken by the 90/60/180 Schmidt telescope of the Konkoly Observatory on February 29, 1976 appeared a flare type object. Its identification chart is given in Figure 1. The exact coordinates of this object are: R.A.= 8h25m30.45s (1950) Decl= +20d 21'34.1" On this plate the magnitude of the object was 13.5m. About two hours later this brightness decreased to 18.0m. Comparing this field with the Palomar Sky Atlas in the blue print there is no trace of this object, while on the red print a faint one is recognizable. At the Konkoly Observatory 43 plates of this field were collected between 1965 and 1976. The object mentioned above appeared on further 4 of these plates. Results are summarized in the Table 1.
