                     VARIABLES IN NGC 188

     Four variables have been found in the old galactic cluster
NGC 188 on plates taken with the Schmidt Camera 135/200/400 cm of
Karl Schwarzschild Observatory. The stars S 8279 and S 8280 had been
noticed by Dr. Richter first and have been recovered independently by
the author. Three of the new variables proved to be pulsating stars
with ultra-short periods.
